Makinde declares August 20 work-free Isese Day
Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, has said that the maiden edition of the Sango Oyo Festival, a UNESCO World Heritage, would have in attendance top diplomats from around the world.
Olatunbosun noted that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s commitment to exploring culture and tourism to expand the state’s economy had already begun to pay off, noting that sooner than later, culture and tourism would place the state in its rightful place on the world map.
The commissioner said that the festival, which grand finale will hold on August 17, 2024 in Oyo, will be attended by Portugal’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Santos Paulo, among others.
Meanwhile, Makinde, yesterday, declared August 20 a work-free day to mark 2024 Isese Day. This was contained in a circular issued by the Secretary to Oyo State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo.
The governor, in the circular, enjoined all traditional worshippers and all citizens to use the day to pray for the peace, unity and stability of the state in particular and the country in general.
