European Union (EU) delegation, yesterday, visited Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, to strengthen its inter-faith project and support the social cohesion to end herder/farmers crisis.
EU Ambassador to Nigeria, Samuela Isopi, who led the delegation, said the EU and Nigeria “are in multi-dimensional relationship” in areas of climate change, green energy, democracy, education and many others.
“We are running an inter-faith project to support social cohesion in the rising tension between farmers and herders as part of our support in the state. We have been involved in rural electrification in collaboration with few partners in the state,” she said.
The delegation said it would visit the site of rice production founded by a EU programme to improve food security and food nutrition.
Members of the delegation assured the governor that a larger delegation comprising all EU ambassadors in Nigeria from 27 countries and investors would visit the state early next year.
Sule expressed gratitude to Isopi for the visit and her kind words on Nasarawa.
He affirmed that Nigeria and Europe share a lot in common, noting that there were more Nigerians in the United Kingdom (UK) and entire Europe than any other part in the world outside Africa.
According to him, Nigeria and Nasarawa share the same value with the EU in peace and security as well as upholding the tenets of democratic process and social cohesion.
