Experts have underscored the importance of communication in driving strong learning among students. They stated this at the celebration of the Literary and Debating/Press Club of Ansar-UD-Deen College, Isolo with the theme, “Express, Engage, Empower: The Art of Communication.”
Schools present for the celebration are Seed of Messiah College, Nubi Private School, Oluwa Memorial Senior Secondary School and Matori Senior Secondary School, among others.
According to the experts, students can develop self-confidence through communication among themselves.The principal of the college, Tajudeen Adebambo, stated that communication instils confidence in the students, noting that with it things can be done right.
“Communication is very important in any academic environment because it is through communication that one can learn and also can pass teaching instructions to students.’
So, communication is a serious matter that should be handled with great care,” he said.
He charged the students to develop more interest in the activities of the club and society to have great communication skills and to develop an interest in the area of journalism.
A Public Relations practitioner, Femi Salawu, while speaking on a career path in journalism explained that communication has to be accurate, fair, balanced and objective.
One of the foundation pillars of journalism, he said, is objectivity, noting that journalists don’t have to be partial in reporting cases, but should report the news as it is.
