Former Governor of Lagos State and immediate past Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the Chief Operating Officer, Green Energy International Limited (GEIL), Kayode Adegbulugbe, have been awarded Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (D.SC) Honoris Causa by the University of Benin at the just concluded 48th convocation.
Other award recipients included Mrs. Betsy Obaseki; Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Gbenga Olu Komolafe.
In his remarks Fashola urged graduates and awardees to give back to the society, saying their degrees were designed to serve the society.
“On behalf of the honorees, I pledge our commitment to the University of Benin,” he said.Adegbulugbe said he felt “honoured and humbled” to have been recognised for his contribution to the development of the Nigerian oil and gas sector by the Senate of the university.
He said: “It’s an honour to be considered among the other great recipients of this award like Komolafe and Babatunde Fashola. Their reputation precedes them and I feel very humbled to be recognised by this great university.”
