The Federal Government on Monday opened applications for the National Health Fellows Program.

According to a statement from the PBAT Media, the President Bola Tinubu administration stated that the selected fellows, aged between 25 and 35, would be engaged in all 774 local government areas of Nigeria.

It added that they would be remunerated and equipped with appropriate tools to drive positive change in the health sector.

The deadline for interested applicants has been set for Monday, 27 January 2025. For more information on eligibility, the public has been directed to click on the following link: healthfellows.ng.

President Tinubu, in April 2024, approved the establishment of the National Health Fellows Programme.

According to Tinubu, this initiative is part of his determination to upgrade existing primary healthcare centres and construct over 8,800 new primary healthcare centres across local government areas in the country for accessible healthcare delivery, along with the provision of new social accountability mechanisms.

He explained that the well-trained fellows will serve as fiduciary agents to monitor and track Primary Healthcare Centre development and performance, which will be measured against all financial inflows to the centres nationwide.

Tinubu also stated that the fellowship programme would be domiciled in the Sector Wide Approach (SWA) coordination office under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
