To enable farmers adopt new technologies the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) has launched the Nigeria Agricultural Intelligence Platform (NAIP) to link them with research institutes.
The Artificial Intelligence platform is designed as an advisory to link researchers, farmers and markets, boost access to credit facilities, mechanization scheme, enhance farmers security, support data driven planning and create digital market linkages.
The Minister of Agriculture and food Security Senator Abubakar Kyari while unveiling the platform yesterday in Abuja stated that beyond modernization, NAIP is a national economic driver that can boost agricultural productivity, create jobs and strengthen livelihoods.
The Minister who was represented by Director, Horticulture ,Dr. Yerima Uba reaffirmed Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging innovation and technology to drive agricultural development.
He noted that the NAIP initiative aligned with the National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, both of which emphasize research, innovation, and youth empowerment as cornerstones of agricultural transformation.
He stated that agriculture remain the backbone of the economy and to unlock its full potential, it’s important to embrace innovation and technology as central pillars for growth adding that the launch represents a bold and visionary step towards building a digital, knowledge-driven, and inclusive agricultural future for Nigeria,” he added.
The Executive Secretary of ARCN, Abubakar Dabban stated that the technology developed by Pixel solutions is a people-centred, technology-driven, and youth-powered agricultural system” that will connect farmers, researchers, and policymakers for shared growth.
He stated “Through NAIP, we will build digital knowledge hubs, provide AI-powered advisory services, expand access to mechanization, and deploy e-extension tools that place innovation directly in the hands of farmers, we will empower farmers, strengthen food security, and position Nigeria as a leader in Africa’s agri-food transformation.
Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, ARCN, Dr. Shuaibu Aliyu Madugu described NAIP as a real-time monitoring tool that provides farmers and policymakers with actionable insights for improved productivity and efficiency, adding that the platform will serve as a national repository for agricultural data, enabling evidence-based planning, smart extension delivery, and efficient resource management across the sector.
