Fire razes FRCN building in Kaduna

[FILES] Fire outbreak
A mysterious fire that broke out in the afternoon, yesterday, gutted the building housing the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) located in Kaduna.

The cause of the fire incident is yet to be ascertained, as at the time of filing this report but a source revealed that it started at the procurement section of the radio station at about 1.43 p.m.  No official statement has been issued by the management of the FRCN at the time of this report.

The source at the Corporation headquarters in Kaduna said: “We were coming out from the mosque when suddenly we saw fire come out from the procurement building. Being a Sunday, only a few workers reported for duty. So, we don’t know how the fire started.”

However, the source disclosed that firefighters were invited to put off the fire from spreading to other buildings.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the intervention of the fire service saved the radio station from being razed down completely.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Ibrahim Malagi was at the station on Friday to assess the radio station, where he promised to carry out reforms at both the station and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
