RCCG empowers 580 officers with ICT skills at Youth Camp
IN pursuance of the determination to keep its officers abreast with the trends of knowledge and not to be left behind in the fast growing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) world, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has empowered 580 personnel in the just concluded 2015 Admin Officers and Computers Secretaries Conference.

The Conference with the theme: “Leveraging on Social Media Platform for Workplace and Effectiveness,” which took place at RCCG Youth Camp, Ogun State brought together the above category of officers from 189 Provinces across Nigeria and Provinces from the West Coast.

In his welcome address, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer, Admin. & Personnel, RCCG, Pastor Johnson Funsho Odesola said the conference was a clarion call to renew the need to embrace social media platforms towards enhancing workplace efficiency and effectiveness in the business operations of the RCCG.

“Our last three conferences have focused on embracing ICT because the Mission, in view of the global mandate, cannot afford to slow down in taking advantage of information and social media in growing technological changes and how we can access and harness developments via new technology.”

“The choice of the theme for this year’s conference is, therefore, deliberate to deepen the Mission’s strides towards paperless administrative procedures and electronic management information and communication systems,” he said.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Director, Administration and Personnel, RCCG, Pastor Rotimi Adegborioye also premised the rebranded fifthedition of the programme on the need to leverage on ICT with a view to ensuring that these set of personnel in the Church continue to be ICT compliant.

“In RCCG, we esteem integrity, sense of commitment as well as professionalism. Minimum level of an Administrator is Ordinary National Diploma (OND) while a great percentage of the participants are First Degree, Master Degree and PHD holders. We have 1,200 Accountants and Administrators in RCCG. We also have not less than 100 members of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) with more than 120 qualified Chartered Accountants among the participants.”

“Though we started with some administrators having BSc in Botany, Biology, Electronics who would benefit maximally from this empowerment programme, we have however rectified this by ensuring we no longer take as an administrator anyone who does not have a degree in Humanities or Social Sciences and would only consider BSc or HND degree holders as Accountants. We do not take degree holders in Banking and Finance as accountants,” he said.

The President, RCCG Admin Officers and Computer Secretaries forum, Pastor Fasola Akingbade said with the series of conferences, including the 2015 edition, there would be more improvement in the workplace, adding that this segment of the workforce in the Church has moved from grass to grace.

One of the facilitators, Chairman, IT Board, RCCG, Pastor Prince Olaobaju disclosed that through the concluded conference, sufficient information had been passed to the participants on the use and application of social media, adding that the RCCG now has her presence on internet with “theredeemed.com”.

A beneficiary, Lawal John of RCCG Republic of Benin, Cotonou described the programme as impactful, educative and the best of its kind while another beneficiary, Adebayo Oluwaseun from Lagos Province 1, Region 1, who won an award as the Administrator of the year, said the programme has impacted a lot on the participants.

Another beneficiary, Olabisi Olu Daniel, from Ogun State, Province 12 described the programme as the best so far with exposures to technology and social media.
