Former Reps aspirant murdered in Ibadan

A former House of Representatives candidate on the platform of Accord party during the 2015 general elections, Dr. Fatai Aborode has been reportedly shot dead.

A former House of Representatives candidate on the platform of Accord party during the 2015 general elections, Dr. Fatai Aborode has been reportedly shot dead. 

Aborode, who was the Chief Executive Officer, Kunfayakun Green Treasures Limited, was allegedly killed near his farm, along Apodun village, Iganagan by suspected herdsmen, on Friday evening.

It was gathered that Aborode, a politician and prominent farmer, was killed just as he was leaving his farm around 4pm with his manager on a motorbike. 

The manager, who was said to have escaped gunshots, reportedly fled the scene. 

He died in between Tapa and Aiyete community on his way to a hospital in Igboora.

The tragedy struck less than 24 hours after an agriculture stakeholders’ meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in respect of the recurrent attacks by herdsmen in the zone. 

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relation Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi said: “At about 1750 hrs of 11/12/2020, along Apodun road, Igangan, one Alh. Fatai Aborode ‘m’ of Igangan, was robbed and shot by four unknown gunmen, the victim was rushed to Olugbon hospital, Igboora where he was confirmed dead. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing assailants.”
