THE Kwara South United Forum has hailed the nomination of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) as a minister by President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a communiqué issued after a meeting in Omu-Aran, Kwara State on Wednesday, the forum said that Alhaji Mohammed’s nomination has further underscored President Buhari’s commitment to merit, competence and fairness in political considerations.

The forum said that it has no doubt in the capacity of the APC spokesman in living up to the expectations of both the president, people of Kwara State and the entire Nigerians.

It described Alhaji Mohammed, an excellent, bilingual public relations expert and a lawyer, as a bundle of intellectualism and political savvy.

The forum urged the distinguished senators of the federal republic to demonstrate high commitment to national political ideals by screening the ministerial nominees dispassionately.

It said that the senators have a duty to complement the efforts of President Buhari in giving Nigerians a new direction of hope and national revival by embracing his anti-corruption philosophy and programmes.

The forum also advised Alhaji Mohammed to justify the confidence reposed in him by making not only Kwara State, his state of origin, but the entire Nigeria his ministerial constituency, if he scaled the ministerial screening hurdles.

It added that Ahaji Mohammed must work assiduously with all other political office holders from Kwara State in championing the cause of rapid socio-political development of the state.

The forum said it will continually monitor his performance in public office whenever he began his impending onerous national political assignment.

It also congratulated the people of Kwara South Senatorial District for having one of their own nominated for ministerial appointment by the president.

The communiqué was signed by retired Maj-Gen, Yemi Abidoye, the convener of the forum and Barrister Rotimi Ogunwuyi, the forum’s interim legal adviser.
