The Mojisola Asabi Foundation has commenced construction of a specialized healthcare facility dedicated to elderly and vulnerable residents in Iberekodo, Igboora, Oyo State.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Divine Grace Community Clinic, held at the Olu-Aso Palace Ground, drew over 300 participants, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents, who described the initiative as a much-needed intervention for the rural community.
Speaking at the event, founder of the foundation and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Oat Construction Nigeria Limited, Soji Adeniji, said the project aims to ensure no elderly person in Iberekodo suffers or dies due to lack of medical care.
“Our vision is simple yet profound — no elderly person in this community should have to suffer or die because they cannot access healthcare. The Divine Grace Community Clinic is being built to serve as a beacon of hope,” Adeniji stated.
The 12-bed capacity facility will specialize in geriatric care, offering services such as orthopedics and physiotherapy for arthritis and mobility issues, endocrinology for diabetes management, neurology for stroke recovery, pharmacy services, and mental health support for depression and anxiety.
According to the foundation, the clinic will address the challenge of elderly residents traveling long distances for medical care, often at significant financial and physical cost to their families.
Commending the project, the Olu-Aso of Iberekodo, HRM Oba Jamiu Adedamola Badmus, described it as a timely intervention that highlights the need to integrate elderly healthcare into rural development plans.
Bishop of Ibarapa Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sunday Johnson, called the initiative “long overdue” and urged residents to support it through human and material resource contributions.
The foundation’s General and Publicity Secretary, Nifemi Arogundade, appealed for wider support from individuals, corporate organizations, and development partners.
“Healthcare is a shared responsibility. While we have taken the lead, we call on everyone who values humanity to join hands with us to make this dream a reality,” Arogundade said.
The facility, scheduled for completion in February 2026, is expected to create employment opportunities for healthcare professionals and support staff while reducing mortality rates among the community’s elderly population.
The Mojisola Asabi Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on improving lives through elderly care, education, and women empowerment initiatives in underserved communities.
Local residents pledged financial support during the ceremony, with some redeeming their contributions on the spot, underscoring strong community backing for the project.
