The government of France is preparing to send a 20-page document containing a list of items residents of the country should prepare as part of a “survival kit” to all households.
Sky News reported that the items suggested in the document are 10 cans of food, a flashlight, at least six liters of bottled water, batteries, and medical supplies, including paracetamol, compresses, and saline solution.
Other items listed in the document include warm clothes, phone chargers, cash, prescription glasses, duplicate keys, cash, photocopies of essential documents, games to pass the time, and a battery-operated radio.
It also describes actions residents of the country should take when there are threats to their lives, emergency numbers to dial, and steps to follow during a period of crisis, depending on the type of crisis.
“This document aims to ensure the resilience of populations in the face of all types of crises, whether natural, technological, cyber, or security-related,” a spokesperson for the French prime minister’s office said.

According to Le Figaro, a French newspaper, the timing of the dissemination of the document could be France’s response to “the unstable international situation”.
In early March, French President Emmanuel Macron warned the nation of “the Russian threat” faced by Europe as the United States (US) disengages from the European continent.
Macron noted that the Russian threat is affecting European countries, including France.
He also expressed optimism that the US would stay on their side. He added that France needed to be ready to face the Russian threat if the US didn’t stay by their side.
Since Donald Trump’s inauguration, many European countries have been doubtful if the US will stand by them if the Russian threat intensifies and are working on getting to a point where they would not necessarily have to rely on the US.
