Government convasses support for Ogun tourism ahead of Ojude Oba
Ahead of this year’s Ojude Oba Festival celebration, Ogun State Government said the festival has snowballed into a strategic tool for societal integration and a booster for the economic development of Ijebuland.
Speaking at the palace of Awujale, ahead of the festival, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo said such was in an effort to promote tourism potential and the cultural heritage in the state.
According to him, the Dapo Abiodun-led administration has recently launched the Adire Digital Market place as well as invested in capacity building of personnel to deliver on the tourism development of the state.
He urged stakeholders, particularly private sector investors to take advantage of the opportunities in state tourism.
“Our state is blessed with vast tourism locations with natural features which make them alluring and source of delightful experiences to tourists like individuals,” he said.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the Ojude-oba Festival Organising Committee, the Coordinator, Dr Fassy Yusuf, disclosed that this year’s festival, tagged, ‘The Return of the Ojude Oba’ was borne out of the inability of the festival to hold for two consecutive years due to the prevalence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is the special guest honour.
Relatedly, Globacom Regional Manager, Ogun State, Mr Ikenna Aguwuom, stated that his company’s participation in the Ojude-Oba festival was borne out of its commitment to identify with the culture and tradition of Ijebuland.
