Group advocates social justice as solution to Nigeria’s problems
The Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation (GAFARMOG) has advocated social justice as the solution to the protracted socio-economic problems of the country.
According to the group, to enhance and advance democracy, the government at all levels must be proactive on social equality, human dignity and rights of every Nigerian, making citizens have a sense of belonging.
The Chairman, Governing Council, GAFARMOG, Agunbiade Babatunde, stated this when speaking, yesterday, at a conference in commemoration of the late human rights activists, Gani Fawehinmi and Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa’s immortalisation.
He said: “This year’s event, scheduled for April 22, 2024, will be held at Umar Musa Yar’ Adua International Conference Centre, Kaduna, with the theme, ‘Social justice as a foundation for human dignity.”
He noted that the conference was being organised to usher in the yearly celebration of the late Fawehinmi’s post-humus birthday and immortalisation of Balarabe Musa, who stood for justice for all, establishing standards on how every Nigerian, irrespective of social class or status, is to be viewed.
GAFAMORG noted that the almajiris in the North have become a stigma in the country, and the group is making efforts to make it an issue of the past.
