Group gives back to Ojuelegba community
Holloway Sports Store, a leading retailer of sports equipment in Nigeria, has organised a Community Fitness Day and Clean-Up Initiative in Ojuelegba, Lagos State.
The event’s maiden edition aimed to promote physical activity, environmental responsibility, and community engagement. It started with a clean-up service activity, where staff, non-staff members and volunteers picked up dirt and swept and cleaned the road to ensure a cleaner environment.
Chief Executive Officer of Holloway Sports Store, Mr Darlington Okoye, said the event was part of the group’s activities to give back to society. Emphasising the importance of fitness and wellness in our daily lives, he encouraged participants to make exercise a regular part of their routine.
The CEO listed its benefits to include mental agility, emotional acuity, and physical fitness. He stressed the need for individuals to be responsible for adopting healthy lifestyles and creating a workplace culture that supports employee fit. He also highlighted the need for a balanced diet, saying eating nutritious food is essential for maintaining good health and encouraged participants to incorporate vegetables and fruits into their meals, citing their numerous health benefits.
The event also featured the recognition of some individuals who have made significant contributions to the community. Some of them are the Chief Executive Officer of VCN Sports, Chief Victor Nwaribeaku; CEO of Theo & Theo Sports; Prince Anayo Ezeagu, CEO of Kafara Sports; Mr Theophilus Ekejiuba, CEO of Joerex Sports; Chief Charles Okolo and CEO of, A-Z Sports, Chief Emeka Opara.
Others are the CEO of Habito Sports Stores, Macaulay James, CEO of De-Young Sports; Hon. Sunday Ekwe, Deputy Director of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA); Mr Daboh Akinola Samuel and Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Surulere police Division, SP Ogunleti Oluwaseun Philip.
