The Association for Childhood Education Practitioners (ACEP) and other education stakeholders have called for the review of education policies and programmes to meet global standards.

They made the call at the recent three-day national conference of the association, which was held with the theme, ‘Transforming Education for a Better Future’.

Speaking at the event held at the Faculty of Education auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka, National President of ACEP, Hajia Islamiyat Olaitan Oshodi, said education is a transformation process that goes beyond schooling and comprises aspects of society’s survival and sustainable development.

Oshodi, an education consultant for 35 years, also relayed the activities of the foundation in the last two decades, saying that the association has empowered pupils, students, teachers and parents; and has also provided educational infrastructure for schools within the period.

The Vice Chancellor of Emmanuel Alayande University, Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan, while speaking on ‘Partnering with the Community and Educators’ took participants through the relationship between communities, educators and government’s inputs.

He maintained that Nigerian universities and graduates are well-rated all over the world because of their creativity, resilience, educational curriculum and exposure.

Earlier, in his goodwill message, Chairman Emeritus, Prof. Pai Obanya, maintained that promoting the foundation requires strong inter agency collaboration.

“Early child education is an area that should begin from home with adequate care for and concern of families and communities,” he said.
