Group work to unite Igbo people across 13 states

The Igbo Unification Movement is set to hold a conference with the aim of uniting all indigenous Igbo communities in the Southeast, South-South, and North-Central geopolitical zones of the country.

Chairman Local Organising Committee (LOC), Chief Cosmas Agada Chikeobi, disclosed this to newsmen in a statement in Benin on Thursday.

Chikeobi said Ndi na Asuu bia social cultural organisation, the organisers of the 2025 ogbako igbo Zara igbo oru na ndida, welcome all sons and daughters from indigenous Igbo communities in the Southeast, South-South and North-Central geopolitical zones in the spirit of ‘Igwebuike’ unity is power/strength.

The statement reads, “Ndi na Asuu bia social cultural organisation is the convener of the Igbo Unification Movement with the vision to unite all indigenous Igbo communities in the Southeast, South-South and North-Central geopolitical zones in the spirit of ‘Igwebuike’, unity is power/strength.

“It is remarkable to note that Ndigbo are indigenous to 13 states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Cross Rivers, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kogi, and Rivers, hence, our mission has been to go into the Igbo communities in the aforementioned states, and uniting them with their kith and kin in the spirit of ‘Onye aghara nwanne ya’, do not leave your brother behind.

“We are confident that God and our ancestors will help us to unite as Ndigbo, thus our strength as a people lies in our unity. Indeed, our revered ancestors bequeathed to us the philosophies of Igwebuike and Onye aghara nwanne ya, among many others, that have defined the resilient, dogged and entrepreneurial spirit of Ndigbo.

“This 2025 Conference with its theme: “Igbo Bu Ofu” is poised to bring Ndigbo together to chart a way forward as one people with different dialects, exemplified in the saying “IGBO N’ASU NI ONU NI ONU, WEKWA UKWALA OBULU OFU”.

“We heartily look forward to welcoming all Ndigbo to this epoch-making conference. Igbo kwenu!”
