Some gunmen have killed the pastor of a church and another woman whose identity remains unknown in Taraba, The Guardian can report.

SP Usman Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Taraba Police Command, told The Guardian on Sunday that the incident happened three days ago. He said the pastor, who has been identified as Sunday Clement Anthony, lived on the outskirts of Taraba before his death and that his wife had been kidnapped in the past.

“The man lived outside town in an isolated place on the outskirts of Taraba surrounded by mountains. His wife has been kidnapped before and we advised him to relocate from the area. He said he did not have money to relocate and continued living there,” said Abdullahi.

He failed to disclose the identity of the woman who was killed.

“The pastor and the woman who was killed lived in the same neighborhood. There is a wide distance between the man and the woman,” Abdullahi added.

While narrating how the pastor was killed, Abdullahi told The Guardian that the gunmen stormed his apartment at night, broke his windows, and killed him with a machete.

When The Guardian asked the PPRO for the name of the pastor’s church, he said the name of the church remained unknown.

He added that the police were working towards nabbing the perpetrators of the attack and bringing them to book.

“We have deployed men of the anti-kidnapping squad to that area, and we are making sure that they are arrested,” Abdullahi added.
