Heirs Technologies, Africa’s leading technology company, has officially unveiled its free Supplementary Technical Engineering Program (STEP), aimed at equipping young professionals with essential IT skills.

The six-week program, launched on 18 October 2024, is being offered through the company’s training arm, i-Academy, in partnership with global IT certification body CompTIA.

STEP seeks to address the shortage of skilled technical engineers across Nigeria and Africa. This year’s program is designed to provide participants with practical, hands-on training in networking, cybersecurity, and technical support, all while preparing them for globally recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+ Core 2 and CompTIA Network+. In addition to technical expertise, participants will also receive soft skills training to ensure a well-rounded education.

In a statement released and signed by the media head, Chidimma Emeli, the group said the programme will empower young talents with the skills needed in the digital space.

“The demand for skilled IT professionals is soaring,” said Ivy Ikpeme-Mbakwem, Vice-President of i-Academy.

“Through this initiative, we are empowering young talent with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy, helping bridge the skills gap in Africa’s tech industry.”

Heirs Technologies is committed to nurturing future tech leaders, and the STEP programme aligns with the company’s broader mission of driving Africa’s digital transformation. In 2023, the academy successfully trained 29 software engineers, many of whom have secured roles in major tech firms, financial institutions, and consultancies.

Heirs Technologies continues to shape the continent’s digital future by offering high-quality training opportunities designed to meet the evolving demands of the tech sector.
