How police arrested 72- year-old native doctor, suspected killers of female inspector

Police operatives have arrested one Casmire Mgbugha, 53, for killing his second wife, Felicia Nwagbara, who was an Inspector, in alleged attempt to cover his criminal activities.

Inspector Nwagbara was declared missing since 2017 by police authorities. Mgbugha, according to a statement, yesterday,by the Command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP),  Micheal Abattam, was arrested on Wednesday, alongside members of his armed robbery gang, including four siblings and their native doctor.

They were: Hycent Chimezie, 30, Hycent Azunna, 28, Hycent Ifesinachi, 26;Â Hycent Chimobi; 23, Chukwuemeka Wisdom; 22 and Nnadike Clifford, 72, the native doctor.

Abattam said the suspects, who were apprehended following an intelligence at their criminal hideout situated in Ubah Agwa in Oguta Local Council of Imo State, were also manufacturers of the local-made-guns.

He further disclosed that several arms, ammunition and items, including one Toyota Camry car, marked AKD 73 BF LAGOS, one live python, eight locally made pistols, 18 rounds of live cartridges, one Biafra flag and a pair of Police Camouflage uniform, were recovered from them upon searching their camp.
He said: “Sequel to the receipt of credible information that the native doctor, who prepares charms for the fortifications against bullets and knives for members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN), and that the suspect who led in the attack and killing of a police officer in Agwa community has returned after fleeing the community; the Command’s Tactical Teams, on May 18, 2022 at about 0600 hours, hastily mobilised and apprehended them. Our intelligence was also aided with the positive revelations made in course of interrogating the suspects earlier arrested in connection with the killing.
“The team was able to locate the criminal hideout in Ubah Agwa in Oguta L.G.A of Imo State and immediately cordoned area and tactical went into the den.

“The hoodlums on sighting the police operatives, attempted to escape only to discover that the whole escape routes had been saturated with police operatives, hence, they were arrested.Â
“A suspect who tried to escape after his arrest was shot on the leg.

“In the course of interrogation, the suspects confessed to have murdered late Inspector Nwagbara, who was the second wife to one of the suspects, Mgbugba.

“They further stated that they are the manufacturers of the locally made guns recovered from them. Apart from using the guns in perpetrating crimes, they sell to robbers and kidnappers.”

MEANWHILE, the Command has extended appreciation to members of the public for their support, promising them improved security.
