Urge electorate on active participation
Political parties and other stakeholders in Imo State have called on eligible voters in the state to participate actively in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, while assuring them that their votes would count.

They also urged registered voters, who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), to go and collect them, and use it to exercise their franchise in the coming election.

They made the call, while speaking to newsmen in Owerri, following the disclosure by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that there were 134,000 uncollected PVCs in the state .

They vowed to resist alleged plans to rig the election, asking the electorate to be vigilant and protective of their votes after casting them on Election Day.

The state Publicity Secretary of Action Alliance (AA), Salvator Amadi, said: “The PVCs are uncollected because INEC, which is supposed to be an impartial umpire has consistently demonstrated that it is an appendage of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“What is needed to encourage voters to collect their PVCs is massive sensitisation via the media. What INEC officials are doing wrongly regarding PVC collection is that they extort money from people before releasing the cards on the excuse that they buy fuel for generators in the absence of electricity.
