ITF trains 29,000 artisans, seeks support to do more

The Director-General, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, has disclosed that the agency trained 29,000 artisans last year, who are now self-employed.

Ogun also stated that the ITF is training 100,000 people this year in different skills so that they can equally be self-employed and employers of labour after the training.

He spoke on Friday after visiting all the four training centres to see the level of the training and how the participants were faring.

He appealed to well-to-do individuals to support the ITF to deliver more training.

Ogun emphatically said that the ITF is training the youth to take them away from the bushes where they join banditry and terrorism.

He pointed out that after the training, the trainees will be entitled to get international certification as they will be recognised globally.

He said ITF has well-equipped Secondary Schools in all the zonal offices, adding that it is working towards cascading them to all the states of the federation.

Ogun, who visited four of the training centres in Jos, assured that all outstanding trainees during the programme will be sponsored abroad for more knowledge.
