About 250 women are set to be trained for free in Lagos by a non-governmental organisation (NGO), as part of activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) to be held on March 8.

To facilitate the training is ImpactHER, an African NGO with a mandate to empower African female entrepreneurs by bridging the gender business financing gap to help them realise their full economic potential.

In partnership with the African Union (AU) and supported by GIZ and Brave Women, the free  training, which will hold at The Zone, Gbagada, will bring together over 250 small and medium-scale female entrepreneurs, engaged in various business activities, to undergo training on market expansion strategies, digital skills, packaging and export, business bookkeeping, business financing and other topics to help them run their businesses.

According to the Director, ImpactHER, Clementina Uzogor, theme of the training, ‘Inspiring Inclusion: Unlocking Opportunities Using Digital Skills and Market Expansion’, is apt this period, as Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) need to know that business success and expansion are possible once they have a good grasp of the various digital skills available to them.

“Excellent use of digital skills will help SMEs create a niche for themselves and reach a global set of customers. This is the essence of this training. We have put together wonderful facilitators to explore in detail the various digital marketing skills and how they can help with business and market expansion,” she said.

Uzogor hinted further that this year’s training is different, owing to the speakers and facilitators that have been scheduled to impact the women.

She said: “Speakers for this year’s celebration have been carefully researched and put together. Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), W-Holistics Business Solutions, Olanrewaju Oniyitan; Chief Trade Promotion Officer, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Florence Okafor; Youtube Expert at Valor Reviews, Olatunde Shobajo and Social Media Manager, Robert Taylor Media, Chidinma Ndukwe will be on the ground to share their business experience and expertise at the training.

“Our panellists include MD/CEO, Emerging Africa Group, Adaku Ijara; Director of Finance, Mastercard Foundation, Oluwatoyin Aralepo; Chief Financial Officer, Digital Reality, Dr Oluseyi Olanrewaju; Founder, Corporately Lucid, Ayisat Olanrewaju and Founder, Aruwa Capital, Adesuwa Rhodes Okunbo.”
