James Adeleke Lakisokun dies at 92

Lakisokun, a historian, was a National President, History Teachers’ Association of Nigeria, West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Chief Examiner in History and Chairman, WAEC International panel for Syllabus Review. He was a member of the Nigerian Union of Teachers and served in various capacities. He earned a Bachelors degree in Modern History from the University of Wales, Lampeter, United Kingdom in 1963.

RETIRED educationist and administrator in Western Nigeria, Chief James Adeleke Lakisokun, the Apesin of Odeomu, has died at 92, his family has announced.

Lakisokun served between January 1942 and December 1983.

Lakisokun, a historian, was a National President, History Teachers’ Association of Nigeria, West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Chief Examiner in History and Chairman, WAEC International panel for Syllabus Review. He was a member of the Nigerian Union of Teachers and served in various capacities. He earned a Bachelors degree in Modern History from the University of Wales, Lampeter, United Kingdom in 1963.

The family would announce burial arrangements soon, his youngest daughter Ms Temitope Lakisokun, Managing Director of InsiderLagos communications consultancy, said in a statement.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relations.
