THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil at the weekend threatened to embark on industrial action over failure of the institution to implement the promotion of its members due since 2014.

The university academic union warned that continuous delay in the implementation may disrupt existing cordial relationship and academic activities on the campus.

In a jointly signed statement by Dr. Abdulkadir Muhammad and Arc. Kashim Ibn Yakubu chairman and secretary respectively made available to The Guardian, the union said this development was unacceptable.

According to the release, “the promotion exercise was conducted in October 2014 across different cadre of staff in the university. But till date, the university has failed to implement the promotion with cash backing.

This has resulted in the accumulation of arrears spanning over nine months. The union views this development as unacceptable and capable of breaching the existing industrial peace and harmony in the institution.
