
The reconnection followed intervention by the Executive Chairman of the area, Bishir Maitan, after meeting with representatives of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), in the state metropolitan area.
The council area currently foots electricity bills of many of the communities in the area, as insecurity and other economic challenges have hampered prompt payments of power bills.
According to Maitan, several people in the council have been bedeviled by security challenges, particularly areas facing attacks by bandits and rustlers.

He said due to this, many of them have challenges making ends meet as they cannot go to their farms, or go about their day-to-day businesses.
He said the importance of electricity in boosting the local economy cannot be overstated, adding that the people of Jibia are now empowered to drive their economic growth.
He also praised efforts of the KEDCO team, led by Engr. Abubakar Sayaya, who commended Maitan for his dedication to improving the lives of Jibia residents.
With the reconnection, Jibia now has its own dedicated power line, separate from Batsari and Rimi council areas.
