Kcee, Ikem Mazeli dazzle at ‘evening with Glo’ in Onitsha

It was a night of elegance and cultural splendour as telecommunications giant, Globacom, hosted a captivating event titled, ‘Evening With Glo’ in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Held in honour of His Majesty, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the event marked the commencement of this year’s Ofala Festival in a truly spectacular fashion.

The occasion, held at the C.J. Paterson Hall on Enugu Road, drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including prominent Onitsha chiefs, notable sons and daughters of the kingdom, Glo business partners, loyal customers, and friends of the brand.

Guests were treated to a vibrant evening of music, dance, and cultural celebration, underscoring Globacom’s enduring commitment to Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

Globacom, through its ‘Evening With Glo’ series, continues to use entertainment as a medium to project Nigeria’s rich traditions and customs to the global stage. The event forms part of the Glo Heritage Series, an initiative aimed at celebrating and preserving Nigeria’s diverse cultures, while also promoting tourism and national pride.

Headlining the evening were two celebrated musical icons – Kcee and Ikem Mazeli – both of whom delivered exhilarating performances that kept the audience thoroughly entertained.

Ugosinaobichukwu Ikem Mazeli, popularly known in Anambra as “Onye nwe egwu” and “Material,” is a household name in the region and an immensely popular figure within the Onitsha community. With his vibrant live band and dancers, Mazeli delighted attendees with a high-energy performance that highlighted his deep connection with the people.

Kcee, who followed with a spellbinding performance, electrified the atmosphere with a repertoire of his popular hits. His dynamic stage presence had the entire hall dancing and singing along as he engaged with the crowd, moving through the audience and creating moments of shared joy. Known for his charismatic and interactive performances, Kcee once again proved why he remains one of Nigeria’s most beloved entertainers.

The event was a fitting prelude to the Ofala Festival, a traditional celebration that holds deep cultural significance for the people of Onitsha. Many of the guests expressed appreciation for Globacom’s role in supporting and enriching cultural festivities through such high-quality entertainment.

‘Evening With Glo’ has become a signature component of the company’s cultural outreach, showcasing music that resonates with communities across Nigeria. Prior to the Onitsha edition, the event was held during the Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu-Ode – another long-standing cultural celebration which Globacom has supported for over two decades.

By blending music, tradition, and corporate social responsibility, Globacom continues to reinforce its position not only as a leading telecommunications provider, but also as a champion of Nigerian culture and unity.
