Kebbi Customs earns N98m, hands over seized donkey meat, skins to NAQS

Kebbi State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated over N98 million in May this year, representing a 111 per cent rise in the command’s monthly revenue target.

State Comptroller of Customs, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, made the disclosure while handing over 414 seized sacks of donkey meat and skins to the National Agriculture Quarantine Services (NAQS) in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the operation began at Maje border and terminated at Kamba axis, where operatives successfully effected the seizures from smugglers.

Oramalugo added that the handover was done in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration, adding that the offence contravened Customs 165 of CEMA CAP C45 LFN of 2004 and international protocols.

He thanked stakeholders and members of his team for contributing to the feat.

The Customs chief assured the people that the command and its operatives would not rest on their oars in ridding the state of criminality and smuggling.

The Assistant Comptroller-General of NAQS, North West, Adamu Isah Gano, while accepting the seized items, expressed appreciation to the command, noting that the items are endangered species under international trade, and one needs a permit and certification to carry out such business, as provided by the law.

He pledged to take action on the items.
