Kebbi police arrest ICT JAMB manager for alleged theft of HP laptops

Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a staff of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB ) and the manager, in charge of Kebna ICT JAMB Centre, Zuru, Abubakar Ismail, for theft of 83 pieces of HP laptops belonging to the centre.

Nab others for kidnapping 
Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a staff of Kebna CBT centre one of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB ) approved CBT Centre in Zuru, Kebbi State and the manager of the Centre, one Abubakar Ismail, for theft of 83 pieces of HP laptops belonging to the centre.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, who disclosed this while addressing newsmen, yesterday at the Police Command Birnin Kebbi, said the incident happened on November 20, 2022, at about 0900hrs.

He said that one Dr. Michael Ezra Dikki, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Zuru, that on the same date at about 0830hrs, he visited the centre, where he discovered that, one Abubakar Ismail, the site manager, had 83 pieces of HP laptops, belonging to the centre.

The commissioner said the suspect took them to one Chukwudi Otutu, ‘m’, of Otutu computer centre, Sokoto town, Sokoto State and sold each at the cost of N40,000.

He added that On receipt of the complaint, a team of policemen swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspect and recovered 76)pieces of the said stolen laptops.
“Investigation is in progress and the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution,” the commissioner said.

The CP explained further that on November 20, 2022 at about 2030hrs, another gang of kidnappers invaded the residence of one Alhaji Adamu, ‘m’ of Laga village, Tsamiya District, Bagudo Council, attacked and kidnapped him.

“On receipt of the information, a team of Policemen swiftly responded, pursued the kidnappers and engaged them in a gun duel. As a result, the victim was rescued unhurt and one of the suspects named Angulu was gunned down.

“Three AK47 rifles, two fabricated Dane guns, one locally made pistol, 47 Ak47 live ammunition and seven live cartridges were also recorded as exhibits. However, one Alti Abdullahi aka Altu, ‘m’, of Sabon Gari village, Tsamiya District of Bagudo Council, was also arrested in connection with the case. In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to have committed the
crime and mentioned his gang members, who are currently at large as follows: Dogo Bube, Chakari, Jabbi Daneri and Shehu Tambaya.

“The suspect further confessed to have been responsible for the kidnapping of one Alh. Ado, ‘m,’of Sanji village and Alh. Muhammadu, ‘m,’ of Tungar Gyado area of Sanji village all in Tsamiya District, Bagudo Council and collected the sum of N3.5million as ransom. Investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members.”
