The younger sister of the Governor of Taraba State, Atsi Kefas, who was reportedly shot in Wukari Local Government Council of the state, has passed away.

Her demise followed the various gun injuries she sustained during the incident, which occurred in Kente village of the council.

Till her death, the state government has not been able to reach out to the press regarding the circumstances surrounding her being shot.

While some groups claimed the incident occurred following a bandits’ attack, others have continued to argue that it was an accidental discharge from one of the security operatives attached to the vehicle they were travelling in.

Despite the ongoing arguments, the state police command, through its spokesperson Usman Abdullahi, claimed the incident was an armed robbery attack.

Our correspondent gathered that 44-year-old Atsi died at a private hospital in Abuja, where she had been receiving treatment after the attack.

Following the attack, Atsi was initially rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari for emergency care. She was later transferred to Abuja for advanced medical treatment but succumbed to her injuries despite efforts to save her.

The incident, at the time of filing this report, has sparked widespread condemnation, highlighting ongoing concerns over insecurity in the state.

No public statement has been issued to journalists regarding the tragic loss as of the time of filing this report.
