Governor Agbu Kefas has signed into law a N128.58 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, alongside a N47.12 billion virement earlier approved by the Taraba State House of Assembly.
Speaking during the signing at the weekend, Governor Kefas said the additional funding is aimed at closing urgent financial gaps in critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, and economic development.
He noted that the move is also intended to cushion the impact of inflation and exchange rate volatility on ongoing projects across the state.
According to the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, the supplementary budget will strengthen the state’s capacity to address emerging economic and security challenges, realign expenditure with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), and fast-track the execution of priority development initiatives.
With this approval, Taraba State’s total budget for 2025, as observed by The Guardian, now stands at N574.8 billion.
Of this amount, capital expenditure now accounts for 68.9%, while recurrent expenditure represents 31.1%.
The Committee further charged the state government to ensure transparency, accountability, and the timely release of funds to guarantee effective implementation of the supplementary budget.
