Kellyrae wins BBNaija Season 9, carts home N100m grand prize
After 72 days in the Big Brother Naija (BBN) house, 33-year-old married housemate, Kingsley Sule, known popularly as Kellyrae from the Double Kay Pair, last night emerged the winner of BBN season 9 reality television show.
Tagged ‘No Lose Guard’ on July 28, 13 male and 15 female contestants went into the house, the figure that represent a difference of eight contestants from season eight edition of the show.
At inception, 14 pairs, comprising Wanni X Handi Pair, The Streeze Pair: Ogunyemi Oluwatobi Feyishola aka Toby Forge and Mayowa Adewumi; The Ndinne Pair: Precious Chiamaka Nwafor and Mary Nneamaka Nwafor; The Zinwe Pair: Chinwe Elibe and Zion Ogiefa; The Radicals: Fairme David and Michky; The Flourish Pair: Flora Chiedo and Ruth Akpan; The Aces: Joseph Bassey Christopher and Samuel Osuji; The Shatoria Pair: Victoria Onyenwere Uchechi and Shaun Okojie; The Tami Pair: Damilola Eniola Ojo and Oluwatoyosi Precious Bakare; The Mbadiwe Twins: Oseloka Ocee Mbadiwe and Ozumba Ozee Mbadiwe; The Beta Pair: Tunji Adeniji Soji and Benjamin Eseoghene Olufemi; The Nelita Pair: Nnenna Mbonu and Anita Ukah; The Double Kay Pair: Kingsley Sule and Kassia Sule and Onyeka and Chizoba Pair: Onyeka Chigbo and Chizoba Chigbo, contested for the show.
Katung Aduwak won the season 1 of the show in 2006, Micheal Efe Ejeba won in 2017, Miracle Igbokwe won in 2018, Mercy Eke won in 2019, becoming the first female to win. In 2020, Olamilekan Agbeleshe (Laycon) won. Hazel Oyeze Onou, aka Whitemoney won in 2021. Ijeoma Otabor, aka Phyna won in 2022 and Ilebaye Precious Odiniya won last year.
On August 1, 2024, the first week of Big Brother’s “No Loose Guard” concluded with the season’s first eviction, sending the duo Tami (Toyosi and Damilola) home.
On September 25, 2024, Chinwe Elibe and Zion Ogiefa became the fifth pairs to be evicted from the season’s edition. Fairme David and Michky were evicted from the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show.
They became the sixth pairs to be evicted from this season’s edition tagged ‘No Lose Guard, after The Tami, the Ndinne, Streeze, Flourish and Zinwe pair. Fans of the show were not surprised about the eviction as they blamed Chinwe for being selfish with her emotions, putting off housemates and viewers. They doubt if their relationship will survive after the eviction.
Soon, the show moved from Dynamic Dou To Unpaired. In a shocking move, Big Brother announced the unpairing of the dynamic duo, living individuals to play the games, deploy strategies and survive individually.
The move came as a shock to fans of some of the dynamic duos while others cheered that it was a good move. Anita, Kellyrae, Nelly, Onyeka, Ozee, Sooj, Victoria, and Wanni made it to the final.
In the night, Sooj became the first amongst the eight to exit the house. Anita became the second to leave the house, bringing her journey to an end, leaving Kellyrae, Nelly, Onyeka, Ozee, Victoria, and Wanni to compete for the prize.
Ozee became the third to leave the house in the night. Nelly became the next to be evicted, joining her love interest, Ozee. Kellyrae became the last man standing, competing against Victoria, Onyeka and Wanni.
Ebuk Obi-Uchendu announced Victoria as the next contestant to leave the show. Onyeka became the sixth to be evicted from the show, leaving Kellyrae and Wanni in the show.At exactly 8:55, the graduate of Delta University, Kellyrae was declared the winner of the show.
