Key auto stakeholders back 2025 Nigeria summit

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Toyota Nigeria, Carloha, Weststar Associates, Lanre Shittu Motors, Lanre Shittu Manufacturing (LSM), and Nord Automobiles are among several stakeholders that have confirmed participation in the 2025 Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU) scheduled for July 30 in Lagos.

The summit, now in its second edition, is organised by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in partnership with the NADDC. It aims to provide a forum for industry players to engage with government representatives on critical issues affecting the sector.

This year’s edition comes at a time when Nigeria’s automotive industry faces uncertainty due to the continued delay in passing the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) into law.

Chairman of the NAISU Organising Committee, Mike Ochonma, said the summit is designed to “critically x-ray the auto industry and proffer solutions that will take the industry to greater heights for the benefit of all players and Nigerians at large.”

In addition to private sector support, key government agencies including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) are expected to participate.

NAJA Chairman, Theodore Opara, said the widespread interest in the summit reflects growing concern and engagement within the sector.

“NAISU has come to stay, as evidenced by the wholehearted embrace by stakeholders,” he said. “This year’s summit will place a strong focus on entrenching local content and revisiting the federal government’s long-awaited Auto Industry Development Plan.”

The 2025 summit is expected to serve as a platform for renewed dialogue around policy formulation, investment incentives, and strategies for driving industrialisation within the automotive sector.
