Kidnapped relatives of Daily Trust former editor released

Abducted relatives of former Daily Trust Editor, Malam Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, have been released.

It was gathered that their abductors had earlier reduced the ransom to N10m from the N50m earlier demanded.

The three victims include a male and two females, including Mr Ajobe’s immediate younger sister, Halimtu-Sadiya Tahir.

This was disclosed to our correspondent on Sunday through a text message by Malam Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, the elder brother of one of the kidnapped persons.

Ajobe who broke the news to our Correspondent through a text message said “Yes, they released them just this evening. They are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

Ajobe who was full of joy for the release of his siblings, however did not say if any ransome was paid

Recall that the victims were said to have been abducted on their way from a nearby community market in Awo, Ankpa local government area of Kogi State, along the deplorable Ankpa-Adoka-Markudi road.

It was gathered that Ajobe lost his mother, Malama Aishetu Tahir last week Sunday after a protracted illness.

The victims were said to have gone to the market to purchase items for the 7-day prayers of the ace Journalist’s deceased mother when they were kidnapped.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), William Aya, who earlier confirmed the incident could not be reached for his reaction
