Kogi Gubernatorial Election: SDP pledges economic transformation, solicits traditional rulers’ support

Kogi State Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtala Yakub Ajaka, who pledged to transform the economic fortune of the state, canvassed for the support of traditional rulers towards the November 11, 2023 poll in the state.

The New Media Director of Ajaka/Muri Campaign Council, Isaiah Davis Ijele, in a press statement, said:
“Ajaka, who met with traditional rulers in Ibaji Local Council to seek royal blessings, was overwhelmed by the monstrous show of love by the people at the campaign rally in Ibaji.”

While unveiling his developmental plans for the area, Ajaka lamented the infrastructural decay and high rate of poverty ravaging the council as a result of the leadership deficit in the state.

He described Ibaji Local Council as one of the most blessed with natural resources, premising his position on the availability of fertile farmland, rivers, crude oil deposits, and energetic men and women, capable of turning the misfortune of the area to fortune given the enabling environment to thrive and deploy the wealth of the council for great good.

The SDP candidate promised to empower 30,000 women with N500,000 each as part of his plans to reawaken economic activities in Kogi State.

He also vowed to construct the road linking Ibaji-to-Idah to ease transportation for enhanced agricultural and economic activities in the area.

Ajaka pointed out that the 13 per cent derivation for oil-producing states from the federal monthly allocation shall be judiciously deployed into making the council and indeed Kogi State a pride of all.

Similarly, speaking during the rally in Ibaji, the Chairman of the Muri/Sam Campaign Council, Col. S. Babanawa (rtd) thanked the people for their warm reception, assuring them of a breath of fresh air under Ajaka’s tenure.

The Director General of the Campaign Council, Sheikh Ibrahim assured the people that when Ajaka is voted into power, his administration shall ensure that Ibaji residents get access to affordable healthcare services, standard schools, and rural electrification.

The Campaign Youth Leader, Ahmedi Attah, while expressing his optimism that the party will coast to victory, implored the people to keep their Permanent Voter cards (PVCs) safe, and vote massively for the SDP in the November 11, election.
