Lagos: Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Upwey Global host fitness, health outreach in Alimosho

The Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in partnership with Upwey Global Investment Limited, has organised the first edition of the Alimosho Fitness to Fortune Fiesta, a community health and wellness event held at the Isheri Olofin Roundabout on Saturday, 20th September 2025.

The initiative brought together residents from across Alimosho, including business owners, civil servants, realtors, and young professionals, for a day of fitness exercises, health screenings, and networking sessions aimed at promoting wellness and economic empowerment.

A central feature of the event was the free medical outreach conducted by health personnel from the Egbe-Idimu LCDA Health Centre. Participants received tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health indicators, with free medications provided to those who required treatment.

Many elderly residents took part in the medical exercise, describing it as timely and beneficial. Mrs Abigail Aina, a 68-year-old resident of Isheri Olofin, said the initiative gave her access to essential healthcare at no cost. “This is the first time in a long while that I’m checking my blood pressure and sugar level, and I didn’t pay anything. They even gave me drugs. I feel happy and cared for. God bless Upwey and the health workers,” she said.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Upwey Global Investment Limited, Ambassador Austine Oladejo, commended the support of the Egbe-Idimu LCDA under the leadership of Executive Chairman, Prince Idris Balogun. He said the collaboration reflected the company’s broader vision of community impact beyond its core business interests.

“At Upwey Global, we are not just selling properties; we are in the business of empowering people, creating wealth, and transforming lives,” Oladejo stated. “We believe that health is the foundation of wealth. That is why we created this platform — to help our people stay fit, build valuable connections, and open doors to wealth creation opportunities.”

Participants also highlighted the networking opportunities that emerged during the event. Realtor Tunde Ojo described it as a productive experience that combined exercise with business connections. “The workout was fun, but beyond that, I met people I can do business with. It’s not every day you find an event where you can exercise, check your health, and also connect with clients and partners,” he said.

The fiesta featured aerobic sessions, dance fitness, wellness and wealth talks, and informal networking, transforming the Isheri Olofin Roundabout into a lively hub of activity.

Organisers said the success of the event demonstrated the potential for partnership between local government and the private sector to promote public health and community development. Plans are already underway to make the Alimosho Fitness to Fortune Fiesta an annual event within the local government area.
