The newly elected Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has received the blessings of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the apex decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 01, met with members of the GAC on Tuesday, a day after she was sworn-in as the first female speaker of the assembly, following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa.

She previously served as Deputy Speaker under Obasa who was removed from office over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of power.

Speaking with journalists after meeting the GAC members, Meranda explained that the meeting was to update them on recent developments in the assembly and to secure their endorsement.

“We briefed them about what transpired at the House of Assembly yesterday and sought their blessings, which we have received,” she said.
