The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday paraded four suspects over their involvement in a recent attack on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus on the Mile 2 to Lagos Island corridor.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operation) Lagos Command, Oyewole Emmanuel, and Lagos Task Force Chairman, CSP Tayo Akerele, during the parade also warned miscreants to desist from vandalising public properties, declaring the state’s zero tolerance for vandalism.

The officials addressed the media on Wednesday at the Task Force office in Oshodi, Lagos, where they paraded four suspects— Ilesanmi Kazeem, Ibrahim Lawal, Daniel Abati, and Mohammed Ali— involved in a recent attack on a BRT bus.

The attack occurred on August 13, 2024, when a bus belonging to the Lagos State-regulated BRT, travelling from Mile 2 Terminal to Lagos Island, was ambushed by hoodlums at Alaba Suru. Passengers were robbed, and the bus’s windows were shattered. A video of the incident began trending on Thursday.

Emmanuel stated, “The suspects attacked the BRT bus on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, robbing and injuring passengers. Following a raid by the Task Force, four suspects have been apprehended, with Mohammad Ali, aged 30, naming the other three. The remaining suspects are still at large. This crime, carried out in broad daylight, is highly condemnable. They will be charged in court.”

Akerele added, “Miscreants mobilised and attacked the BRT bus. The state government has zero tolerance for such destructive acts, and others will learn from this. It is our duty to bring these criminals to justice, which we have begun to do.”
