Lagos police probe officers’ assault on citizen
Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, said it is investigating a viral video, where a man was seen being assaulted by police officers.
The Guardian learnt that the victim allegedly refused to release his phone to the officers.
A Twitter user had on Wednesday shared the video and tagged the accounts of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, and Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
The video was captioned, “No drugs, nothing, no evidence. Why asking for phone for no reason? I don’t know why.”
Reacting to the video, Adejobi described the incident as disgusting.
He, however, urged Hundeyin to fish out the officers captured in the video and conduct an investigation on the matter.
He added that the victim in the video should personally send him a direct message for further information.
When The Guardian contacted Hundeyin, he said: “We are investigating the video and will make findings open to the public.”
