Lagos Traffic Radio will reduce congestion, says Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, assured citizens of the state that the recently unveiled ‘Live Camera Update Project’ by the Lagos Traffic Radio, 96.1 FM, would help reduce traffic congestion across the state.

He gave the assurance at the unveiling of the new technology, installed by the Ministry of Information and Strategy on the Lagos Traffic Radio premises in Ikeja.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, averred that the initiative would provide the much-needed information that would help commuters plan their journeys in a bid to improve travel time across the city.

He said: “The Lagos Traffic Radio Live Camera Infrastructure for Live Feeds, being commissioned today is, therefore, an addition to the pool of technologically driven initiatives, adopted by this administration to enhance free-flow of traffic in the metropolis.”

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, corroborated that the initiative would resolve the challenges of traffic congestion across the state.

The station’s General Manager, Tayo Akanle appealed for cooperation among Lagos residents in listening to the radio station for real time traffic information in order to reduce traffic congestion.
