The Lagos State taxi scheme, LagosRide, aimed at re-writing the mobility experience of the people in the state, as well as providing economic independence for over 1,000 families, has marked its one-year anniversary with a new target of launching its version 2.0 that will offer a community and collaborative experience for captains and riders.

The taxi scheme, which kicked off with a fleet size of 1,000 brand new Sports Utilities Vehicles (SUVs) and sedans a year ago, was launched by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu alongside its core partners, Ibile Holdings Ltd, Zenolynk Technology Ltd and Choice International Group, the franchise owner of the GAC brand of vehicles in Nigeria at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to a statement, the taxi scheme, which prioritises providing excellent service to all its stakeholders, especially the captains who ensure that passengers move around safely and in style, has successfully completed over 350,000 trips spanning a total travel distance of about 5.9 million kilometres from 272,931 downloads and over 120,000 active users.

The proprietors of the ride, however, stated that the New Year holds a lot of promises as they have learnt from feedback and experiences in the last one year.

They revealed that the biggest winners in the last year were riders, from the comfortable ride experience to numerous giveaways in form of concert tickets in collaboration with their various partners to discounted rides, especially the #LagosRideMillonaire Challenge winner who went home with N1million for a creatively selling our unique features.
