Lekan Alabi harps on educational initiatives to promote writing skills
A former Chief Press Secretary to four governors of old Oyo State and Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief ’Lekan Alabi, has recommended educational initiatives aimed at promoting writing skills and intellectual competition among students in Nigeria.
Alabi gave the charge yesterday during a visit to the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) office at Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo State capital. He said the development would improve the quality of education and enhance good writing skills, adding that technology has made life easier, which has affected the writing skills of students.
The Ekefa Olubadan commended NIPOST for its efficiency in organising writing competition yearly for secondary schools and encouraged them to continue.
He, however, urged the Federal Government to fund NIPOST properly, develop and contribute more to postal services. Oyo State Postal Manager, Funmilayo Magaji, in her remarks, commended Alabi for his patronage and described him as NIPOST ambassador and promised to continue to give the box attention.
“He has been our long time customer that has NIPOST at heart. We are happy to have him on this visit. This rekindles our relationship with him and we appreciate him for that,” she said.
