
Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) will hold a summit with stakeholders in the revenue collection system in local councils tomorrow. The summit will address the operations of the councils’ revenue committees, efficient revenue collection in the informal sector and collaboration between the LIRS and councils to harmonise taxes for taxpayers’ convenience.
LIRS Chairman, Ayo Subair, will give the keynote address. Other lead presenters at the summit are Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kikelomo Abolarin; LIRS Director, Informal Taxation & Special Duties, Folashade Coker and LIRS Revenue Manager, Segun Tijani.
The brainstorming session will feature Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Kolade Alabi, among others.The summit, which holds at Osun Hall of the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, is strictly by invitation.
According to a statement by Lead Consultant, Korki & Associates, Kehinde Bamigbetan, the event will build on the achievements of the seminar on professionalising revenue functions in local councils also sponsored by the LIRS on November 4, last year.
