Maulud: Death toll rises to 40 in Kaduna road accident
The death toll of the Kaduna road accident involving Muslim worshippers mostly children which happened on Sunday, September 16, 2024, has risen to 40.
The victims, it was gathered, were traveling to Saminaka for an event to mark the Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
Unfortunately, the J5 bus they were traveling in collided with an oncoming truck near Lere Town, with an initial report by an official from the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency stating that 36 of the travelers lost their lives.
But the organiser of the event the victims were heading to, Ahmad Dayyabu, said the death toll has risen to 40 as more victims died in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, in a statement, expressed sadness over those that lost their lives in the accident.
Sani directed the state commissioner of health, to ensure that the remaining survivors are given adequate medical attention.
The governor said he would reach out to the families of the deceased to offer some assistance.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims have been buried in the Lere local government according to Islamic burial rites.
