Nigerian Air Force (NAF) strikes have killed over a dozen terrorists and destroyed their logistics and food depots in the Lake Chad Basin.

NAF’s Public Relations Officer, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, in a statement, yesterday in Maiduguri, disclosed: “We’ve successfully destroyed food supply depots, and killed dozens of terrorists during the airstrikes,” stating that they were neutralised in the Jubillaram area of Lake Chad Basin.

According to him, the military airstrikes were conducted on November 23, 2024, and targeted strategic enclaves of terrorists in the region.

He said the spots were being used as food storage facilities, as well as hideouts for the terrorists’ commanders and other fighters.

On how the terrorists were neutralised, Akinboyewa explained: “The coordinated airstrikes identified the enclaves through detailed intelligence gathering and linked them to the recent attacks on soldiers at Kareto, Borno State.”

He added that NAF aircraft carried out robust air interdiction missions, destroying key structures and neutralising over a dozen insurgents.

IN a related development, troops of Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in collaboration with Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have foiled an attack on the Kukawa community of Borno State.
According to the task force, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists used a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) to ambush the troops.
Intelligence sources yesterday revealed in Maiduguri that the hoodlums launched their attack with SVBIED, but met swift response from soldiers of the 101 Special Forces Battalion, who killed many terrorists in a fierce gun battle.

They added that survived insurgents were forced to abandon their rifles and logistic supplies before fleeing towards Lake Chad.

ALSO, the Kebbi State government, in partnership with security agencies, successfully thwarted an attempted cattle rustling operation by the notorious Lakurawa bandit group in Gamuzza village, Arewa Local Council, and Gwado village of  Bunza council area.

The prompt intervention, which followed credible intelligence, was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by AbdurRahman Usman Zagga, Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi.

According to the statement, Governor Nasir Idris ordered immediate action, prompting the deployment of NAF units and ground troops to track and disperse the criminal elements.
