Mixed reactions as Gov Radda shouts ‘Katsina is PDP state’ at rally
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Sunday afternoon elicited varied reactions when he shouted, “Katsina is a PDP state!” even though it isn’t.
Radda, who made the mistake while speaking at a rally organised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), repeated the mistake twice during his speech.
Recall that the state has been APC-led for the past nine years, with Aminu Masari being the first APC governor before he handed over to Radda in 2023.
The governor was speaking at Ingawa Local Government Area, the venue of the APC campaign rally ahead of the January 15 council polls in the state.
While speaking, Radda said, “I want to assure President Bola Tinubu that Katsina is PDP, and would continue to be a PDP state.”
As a way of getting a reaction from the mammoth crowd gathered at the event, Radda then shouted, “PDP!”
But the incident did not go well with some APC members at the event, with some of them wondering why the governor chose to describe the state as PDP when it was being governed by the APC.

Though some of the APC stakeholders dismissed the incident as a mistake, some party members who spoke on the matter wondered if there was any motive behind the mistake.
Earlier, Radda said the APC was not afraid of elections and that it would go ahead to defeat the opposition during the forthcoming council polls.
He went ahead to boast that, with the achievements recorded by the APC at both state and national levels, the party would easily win with majority votes during the 2027 general elections.
The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who was also at the event, expressed confidence that the APC would win by a wide margin during the January 15 polls.
Ganduje said about 40,000 members from the opposition party had joined the APC in the state, even as he commended the state administration for its people-oriented policies and programs.
The event, which was attended by hundreds of APC stalwarts and members from across the 34 council areas, saw the handing over of APC flags to candidates contesting for various positions in the election.
