Na’Abba: Koshoedo mourns death of mentor
The Acting National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. (Arc.) Setonji Koshoedo has said that the death of the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Na’Abba, was a “personal loss”.
Describing Na’Abba as his mentor, Koshoedo praised the late politician for his stance on good governance, nation building and transparency in politics.
“He was a grassroots politician who brought his belief in ideal democracy
to national politics,” the Koshoedo said in a statemnt on Wednesday. “This stood him out as one of the best Speakers of the House of Representives in terms of integrity and fight for independence of the legislature.”
He said the House of Representives under Na’Abba remained the only one that resolutely took on the executive in far-reaching ways against civilian dictatorship and gross constitutional breaches in our political journey.
“As I join many others to say this painful goodbye to His Excellency in the realisation that, death, according to the Madeleine L’Engle, is contagious because it is contracted the moment we are conceived, we can only take solace in our memories of his good works and positive politics which will continue to abide in the minds of his colleagues and the people in general,” Koshoedo said.
