NAF urges calm as aerial display, rehearsals begin in Abuja, Lagos

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced aerial display rehearsals in Abuja and Lagos as part of preparations for its 61st Anniversary celebration scheduled for May 23, 2025.

NAF urged residents of the two cities not to panic, as the exercises would be conducted in an organized manner.

According to Air Force spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the rehearsals are aimed at enhancing the spectacle of the event’s grand finale while showcasing the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Air Force.

Residents of both cities are advised not to panic, as the aerial manoeuvres are being conducted in a safe and controlled manner.

The NAF assured the public that all exercises are planned with strict adherence to safety protocols.

The NAF’s 60th anniversary celebration underscores its growth, contributions to national security, and commitment to advancing aviation capabilities.

The event often brings together regional and international attendees, showcasing NAF’s capabilities and fostering dialogue and cooperation in the aviation industry.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), last year, celebrated its 60th anniversary; this year marks over six decades of service to the nation,” Ejodame said.

“Established in April 1964 through an Act of Parliament, the NAF has played a significant role in Nigeria’s defense and security architecture.”
