Nasarawa Assembly passes 2023 budget

Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2023 Appropriation Bill of N149. 3 billion against initial N148.9 billion presented by Governor Abdullahi Sule to the House for consideration and approval.

The Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Abdullahi, announced the passage of the bill during the House proceedings in Lafia, the state capital, yesterday.

Abdullahi said the passed budget, if assented to by the governor, would accelerate economic development, thereby, improving the people’s standard of living.

The Speaker, however, urged the state government to ensure full implementation of the budget.

He also advised managements of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adhere strictly to budgetary provisions in the interest of peace and development.

The 2023n appropriation bill, tagged, ‘Budget of Economic Consolidation and Continuity,’ which was passed by the House, has estimated N90, 619, 580, 459.56 as recurrent expenditure, and N58, 696,363,748.06 as capital expenditure.

The House did an upward review of the total budget size of N148.9 billion, which the governor presented, to N149.3 billion, adding a difference of N357.8 million.
