NBA holds special valedictory session in honour of Akeredolu in Ibadan

.Nigerians should learn from ex-gov’s life of service, says CJN

The High Court of Oyo State, yesterday, held a special session to honour the late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who died last year.

The event was organised by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for Akeredolu, who was President of the association.

The court session, attended by dignitaries and legal luminaries, celebrated the former governor’s impactful life and contributions.
In his address, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), described Akeredolu as one, who would be remembered for his contributions to national development and his concern for the interest of his region and his people.

Fagbemi expressed grief at the loss but noted that it was accompanied by beautiful memories of satisfaction and gratitude.
He also described the demise of the former governor as a national tragedy and urged members of his family and Nigerians to be appreciative of his selfless, generous and sincere deeds during his lifetime.

Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima, in her tribute, described Akeredolu as a passionate and courageous leader, as well as a devoted Christian.

She described him as a great man who lived a great and impactful life, urging the family to find strength in the cherished memories of the beloved ‘Aketi.’

Representatives from legal bodies, including Dele Adesina (SAN) and Chief Adeniyi Akintola (SAN), commended the late governor for a good service to the Bar, humanity and the nation.

They described him as a gem and distinguished statesman, leaving an indelible mark.
Akeredolu’s daughter, Yejide Runsewe, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family for the honour bestowed by the Oyo State Judiciary on his late father.

Also, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, urged Nigerians to learn from the life of service of the late Akeredolu.

He gave the charge during the special court session.
